RAIN WATER HARVESTING

February 25th, 2010

Rain water harvesting is  a technique  of capturing  and  storing  of  rainwater  for  further utilization .Its objectives  are  to meet  the  increasing  demands  of  water, to raise  water  table  by  recharging  the  ground  water, to  reduce  the  ground  water  contamination  from  the  intrusion  of saline water, to  reduce  the surface  run  off  loss, to reduce  storm  water run off and  soil  erosion, to increase  hydrostatic  pressure to stop  land subsidence  and  to  minimize  water  crisis and  water  conflicts.  Rain water harvesting   involves  collecting water  that fall son  the  roof of the house  during rain  and conveying  it  through  PVCore  Aluminium  pipe  to  a nearby  covered  storage  unit. The  rain water yield varies with  the  size  and  texure  of the  catchment area. Before adapting  rain water harvesting method,  the  soil  characteristics ,topography,  rain fall pattern  and  climatic  conditions should  be understood. The most   common method  is  rooftop rain water  harvesting. It is the low  cost and  effective  technique  for  urban houses  and buildings. The rainwater is diverted  into  the  surface tanks  or  recharge  pits  where  the  base  is filled   with  stones  and sand  , which serves  as a sand  filter. The advantages  are   reduction  in  the  use  of current  for  pumping  water,  . Increasing  ground  water  levels,    minimizing  the  soil  erosion  and  flood  hazards. Thus it helps to upgrade  social and environmental status  assuring  water  to  the  future  generation.

A 20cm  rise   is   expected  in  sea  level    by  2030.It  has  a long  term  negative  effect  on  crop  production and  forest  growth. Human rights are the fundamental rights, which are possesed by all human beings irrespective of their caste, nationality, sex and language. These rights cannot be taken away by any legislature or any government act. As natural rights they are seen as belonging to men and women by their very nature. India is a democratic country and the aim of our government is to ensure happiness to all citizens with equal rights, opportunities and comfort. Every citizen must enjoy certain rights and also has certain duties towards the country. Under the Indian constitution nine fundamental rights have been guaranteed to human beings. They are right to freedom, right to property, right to freedom of religion, right to culture and education, right to constitutional remedies, right to equality, right against exploitation, right to food and environment and right to good health. Rights and duties are inter-related. As we all know that hard work brings success likewise if you want to enjoy your rights, you must be dutiful. Another important thing is that it should affect others right and belongings. Being educated is also very important in some places in India, people don’t even know that there exist a government. Air pollution

January 5th, 2010

The introduction of harmful substance or products in the environment is called pollution. There are three major kind of pollution they are Air pollution, Water pollution and noise pollution. In the above three air pollution is the most dangerous one to the environment. The main cause for air pollution in cities is the traffic and the amount of polluted air released from the vehicles. The other main cause is the polluted air released from factories and industries and the polluted air will mix with the atmosphere and this happens to be the cause of ACID RAIN.  Population growth is also a cause for air pollution because the increase in population brings the need for increase in production in other words, There will be a increase in the use of natural resources which gives raise to environmental pollution in general and air pollution in particular. Steps are taken by the government to control air pollution but all the above factors like using vehicles, industries and growth in population cannot be stopped. But fortunately we can control the usage of vehicles and the population growth. Every individual should be aware of this air pollution and act accordingly. Without the help of public this air pollution cannot be reduced.
